The crew revisits fear and horror, Georgia watches Blair Witch for the first time, and their Slay the Lake road trip. Science news: CRISPR defenses, semen-derived eye drops, and airborne eDNA.
Hey Joe, Georgia, and Nick! How are you? π The festival sounds great!
Yep never a bad time for horror.
Someone You Can Build A Nest In is cool. Yep shapeshifting, horror, and fantasy too.
Yeah I have not seen much horror. But I have slightly higher 'comfort' with reading than watching horror. The book was something I read for a book club :). Hope you like it!!
Hahah you jinxed yourself, Joe!! π π jk
Hehe I like the science segmentπ. πIt's cool.
DNA sniping LOL.
Joe, you gave a helpful explanation of bacterial defense against viruses and CRISPR.
Nick, I am curious where you are finding the scientific papers. I'd like to check it out and read papers there π. Thanks π.
Lol it would be interesting if aliens use something besides DNA.
CRISPR intrigues me π.
Makes sense that we need to learn how bacteria to fight. It worries me how much antibiotics are overused.
I had not heard of exonomes. But this intrigues me too lol.
Little superheroes haha. I agree, they are. And I am giggling too π. But then again, I laugh at the mention of the word 'butt' and poop jokes so... π
Wow, that is neat how DNA can spread far (like salmon DNA on the ground far away from the water).
I heard wastewater being tested for COVID. Curious if this is still being done since there is much less focus on COVID now.
Yep, it can be used for monitoring species. It would be cool to see it for monitoring animal migration.
I have never seen the Blair Witch Project. I should.
Yeah, you don't need ultra gruesome content to make a good horror movie.
I remember Sinners was not very bloody until the final third of the film. And even there, it was not that bloody (I may be wrong but it felt as bloody as a Punisher or Daredevil episode).
Lol that scene sounds silly.
I should read Strange Animals. I should ask Georgia for book recs too! π I love asking librarians for book recommendations ππ
Congrats, Joe!! Proud of you, my friend! You are awesome.
And ya all are under 35 π π jk
Have you watched Maul: Shadow Lord? It is a darker Star Wars animated showπ
