What am I reading and Listening to:
Comics: Mega Centurions by Jon Parrish
So, I want to give a big shout out to Jon Parrish. I first meet Jon some years ago at the NWI comic con, and I slapped a sticker from him on my truck. A year or so later I am walking around NWI Comic Con and he yells, “You’re the guy with my sticker on your truck.” We chatted some more and I asked Jon to review my debut novel—which he did in his newsletter. And now full circle, Jon’s newest comic Mega Centurions is being released. Congrats Jon. Mega Centurions: Mega No More! As the Mega Centurions, Cassidy, Reggie, and Thad saved the world from an alien invasion by the evil Prince Venkor. Today, they are barely scraping by in dead end jobs. Things are flipped upside down when a face from their past comes crashing back into their lives. Please go to your local comic shop or click the link above to grab a copy of this comic. I cannot wait to read it! Also, go check out Jon’s newsletter and website (he is a cool dude!) Go check his stuff out

I’m not reading a non-Fiction book, but here are books from the authors I got to meet (Nancy Johnson and Elizabeth Wetmore) at the writer’s Conference you should check out. It was great hearing both writers discuss their writing process and journey to get from idea to bestselling novels, and the stress of getting the second book written. Also, a big thanks to Nancy for inviting me to her table at lunch (I was eating by myself) and asking about my writing journey , giving some advice, and introducing me to several other authors and speakers. Fiction:
The Kindest Lie by Nancy Johnson
This book explores the cross section between race and class in the wake of President Obama being elected and the middle of the Great Recession in 2008. Go check out all the rave reviews and add it to your TBR-list! The Kindest Lie
********* Fiction:
Valentine by
Elizabeth Wetmore
The book is set in the small town of Odessa Texas in 1976, and like Nancy’s book explores the violence when the boundaries between race, class, region as blurred. I am excited to read this book. Go check it out! Valentine

Music: Arroj Aftab
Arooj Aftab is a Brooklyn-based Pakistani vocalist, music composer, and producer. She works in various musical styles and idioms including jazz, minimalism, and neo-Sufi.
I am looking forward to her newest album in a couple months, but I love her song “Last Night” which combines the words of a love poem on top of a catchy dub-beat!
Go give her a listen:
